Origin: Tide Pools & Coral Reefs In The Pacific & Indian Ocean

Habitat: Tide Pools & Coral Reefs

Size: Body:5cm Tentacles:10cm & 28g

Speed: 25mph

Diet: Small Crab & Shrimp

Predators: Groupers, Eels, Sharks & Snappers

Attack/Defense: When the blue ringed octopus  feels threatened it will turn its rings a bright blue colour to scare off predators if this doesnt work it will shoot out ink so it can make a quick escape.

Conservation Status: Least Concern

Life Expectancy: 2 years

Fascinating Facts
  • They are the only octopuses that are venomous to humans.
  • Despite there beautifully bright colours they can only see in black & white.
  • They have enough venom to kill 26 humans within minutes.
