Predators: Humans, Birds of Prey, Wolves & Eurasian Lynxes

Attack/Defence: From a young age otters will learn how to use rocks

to break open shellfish & crustaceans they are also equipped with

incredibly sharp teeth & claws which they use to catch & kill their prey.

Conservation Status: Near Threatened

Life Expectancy: 10 years

They can stay underwater for up to four minutes.

They are the most widely distributed of all the otter species.

A male otter is called a dog, the female a bitch & the young a pup, whelp or kit.
